Honoured to have participated at the African Union Reflection Forum
Honoured to have participated at the African Union Reflection Forum on Unconstitutional Changes of Government which took place in Accra, Ghana from 18-19 March, 2024. I was also a panelist at a session with the sub-theme “ Structural Drivers and Root Causes of Unconstitutional Changes of Government: Impact and Retrospection. The bottom line, from my submission, is that in Africa we need to build strong constitutional institutions to safeguard good governance as well as to promote sustainable democracy while condemning our leaders’ tendency towards
strongmanism and sit-tight syndrome which, unfortunately, is becoming the norm on the continent. Without these, the era of adventurers and carpetbaggers has just begun.
